Named for the artists’ quarter in Milan, the Alfa Romeo Brera, designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, is a synthesis of Alfa Romeo styles old and new,  There’s the long hood and short tail of a 1930s 2900, the grille and light juxtaposition and the V-shaped rear window from the current 147 in production in Europe. The unusual proportions disguise its two-plus-two accommodation, and wide doors open upward and outward from a single bottom hinge for easy access.

Brera’s glass roof gives the interior a wonderful light and airy feel. The Brera is trimmed with rich brown leather that recalls the big Alfa coupes of the 1950s. A large tachometer and speedometer line up with three supplementary gauges at the center of the fascia in classic style. But the seat frames, door armrests, and grab handles are thoroughly modern polished aluminum. The steering-wheel spokes incorporate gearshift buttons, marked plus and minus on each side. Don’t let its’ sheer loveliness fool you, Brera has the heart of a sports car. Not surprisingly, given its origins, the Brera drives much like the latest Maseratis. Brera is fast and  but stops and steers properly, corners adroitly and rides  comfortably. The Brera from our Seattle Alfa Romeo dealership is the perfect daily driver sports car.

To ensure maximum control, the Alfa Romeo Brera adopts a sophisticated suspension set up with high double wishbone suspension at the front and Multi-link at the rear. The four wheel disc braking system is equipped with four channel ABS with EBD and Brake Assist. The Alfa Romeo Brera also utilizes the most advanced electronic active safety devices available: VDC for stability control, ASR to prevent wheel slip, MSR in the event of abrupt downshifts in low grip conditions and Hill Holder for easier hill starts.

Meanwhile, to protect its’ passengers, Brera is designed to provide maximum impact absorption in the event of a collision. Seven airbags, including driver’s knee airbag are standard.

Brera’s compact exterior gives way to a roomy interior designed with passenger comfort in mind. Brera’s instruments are turned towards the driver and logically situated in the dashboard. A central unit houses the climate control system, radio, navigation system, gear lever and ignition button. Despite being a coupe, Brera boasts one of the most spacious interiors in its class.

The Alfa Romeo Brera has an impressively comprehensive range. There are two versions, ten body colors, three interior options, four types of seat upholstery (Techno fabric, Alfatex, leather and  full-grain Frau leather) All Brera models are available with Blue&Me and Blue&Me Navigation packages.
